Monaco, 9 May, 2017

Laurent Puons, CEO of the 57th Monte-Carlo Television Festival (16th - 20th June), today confirmed the participation of a wealth of the television industry's leading acting and creative talent at its upcoming event, as Jury Members for its renowned Golden Nymph Awards were announced.

The Fiction Jury, which will judge a total of nine Golden Nymph Awards across three categories, includes multi award-winning Argentinian film and television director, writer and producer Juan José Campanella (The Secret in Their Eyes, House, 30 Rock); writer, producer and co-founder of Spain's Bambu Producciones, Ramón Campos; award-winning actress Odile Vuillemin (Profilage, L'Emprise); Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actor John Corbett (United States of Tara, Sex and the City); Emmy-nominated executive producer and writer Peter M. Lenkov (Hawaii Five-0, MacGyver, CSI: NY); and Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog, The Expanse).

Awarding four Golden Nymphs, the News Jury will be led by television host, journalist, editor and executive Etienne Leenhardt, Head of the Foreign News Department at France 2, and includes award-winning director and producer, and owner of Norway's Moment Film, Mona Friis Bertheussen (Twin Sisters). Also joining the panel are RTS Award-winning writer, presenter and producer Phil Rees, Manager of Investigations at Al Jazeera, and senior journalist and news presenter for France 24 Television Annette Young, named by UN Women as one of 20 inspirational global voices on women in media in 2015, alongside Eszter Cseke and András Takacs, co-founders of Hungary's Spot Productions and each an acclaimed journalist, director and producer.

Etienne Leenhardt said, «I have been invited to join the jury several times, but unfortunately my schedule has always prevented me from accepting. Each year I have given way to a member of my team. They all described on their return an interesting and convivial Festival, in a fantastic setting. So this year I did everything possible to be there and I'm delighted».

Juan José Campanella commented, «I have worked in American, Argentine and Spanish television enough to know the excellence of the level of the entries at the Festival, and the careful elegance with which it is conducted. It is a prestigious award that makes any production very proud».

Phil Rees added, «I am, of course, very familiar with the awards - as a reporter, I won my first (Silver) Nymph in 1995 - it is one of the world's premier awards. Broadcast journalism is going through a tough transition, as it accommodates new platforms, but, as the Monte-Carlo Television Festival is testimony to, the standard of the best work remains phenomenal».

Peter M. Lenkov mentioned, «Every year when I heard about people going to this event in Monte-Carlo I always envied them and now I am getting to partake, I am really looking forward to it. The Golden Nymph Awards is a must attend event».

Laurent Puons concluded, «The Golden Nymph Award has long been recognised as a truly international accolade and I'm delighted to welcome jury members from across the world, as they undertake the challenge of selecting this year's recipients. As the globalization of the television industry continues to accelerate and high quality, innovative and intelligent content has the potential to reach a bigger audience than ever before, we're proud to bring together a line-up of such exceptional talent as we celebrate the very best in fiction and news programming worldwide».

The Festival Competition is open to all international networks, distributors and production companies. Each year, more than 50 countries are represented in the competition, with more than 30 programmes selected for nomination and final judging by international juries composed of distinguished industry professionals and leading creative and acting talent.

The Fiction category is composed of TV Series - Comedy, TV Series - Drama and Long Fiction Programs. Six Golden Nymph Awards are bestowed across Comedy and Drama Series: Best TV Series - Comedy, Outstanding Actor, Outstanding Actress, Best TV Series - Drama, Outstanding Actor and Outstanding Actress. In the Long Fiction category awards include Best Long Fiction Program, Outstanding Actor and Outstanding Actress.

The News Jury will select Golden Nymph winners in three categories: Documentary - an investigative report that covers current news; Live Breaking News Story - live coverage of a single breaking news event, as it unfolds; and TV News Item - edited coverage of a news event, broadcast on a scheduled news program, as well as an overall Jury Grand Prize.
