6 facts to know about Sex and the City

Emblematic show from the 90s, Sex and The City left its mark on a whole generation who followed Carrie Bradshaw’s adventures, a true symbol of the thirty-something fashionista from New York. and since the show is coming back with And Just Like That… It’s time to dive back into the original show’s magic with six facts about it.

It is ins 2016 that the actress confessed to The Hollywood Reporter that her Sex and The City contract had a no nudity clause. This little line on her contract stipulates that she cannot appear without any clothes on for Carrie Bradshaw’s role! “I’ve always had one, and it’s apropos of absolutely nothing. Some people have a perks list and they are legendary. They have to have white candles in their room. I don’t have a crazy list like that. I’ve just always had [a no-nudity clause]”, she declared.

Sex and The City is well-known for having popularized one of the most emblematic cocktails of the time: the Cosmopolitan. Yet, in front of the camera they obviously used a substitute for the girls to sip. ““The Cosmopolitans were made of water and food colouring or watered-down cranberry juice,” Sarah Jessica Parker admitted to Cosmopolitan magazine. “Ginger ale was a substitute for champagne and red wine was always just grape juice.” Less glamorous, but safer!

…That’s when the final episode of the show was finished! According to Marie Claire, the very last episode of Sex and The City was finally done only four days before it was boradcasted on TV. What a close call!

As legendary as they were, it turns out that Carrie, Samantha and Miranda’s addresses were all fake… 245 East 73rd Street, 300 Gansevoort Street, and 331 West 78th Street lead nowhere. Only Charlotte’s address, 700 Park and 331 West 78th Street really exists but you won’t find her apartment there.

…Only costs them a handful of dollars! And yet, it is today one of the most emblematic pieces of the show. If the exact price changes according to different sources, it seems that the wardrobe department only paid 5 dollars to get its hands on it. What a bargain!

Real Sex and The City fans know that the show comes from Candace Bushnell’s eponymous novel who inspired Darren Star. What you may not know is that the characters are actually inspired by real people! Even Mr. Big was based on a man the author lived a realy love story. Better yet, several anecdotes that we can find in the show were based on real things that happened to some of the female writers who worked on the show.
