Focus on the most badass female TV characters

12/02/2021

It's time to pay tribute to some of the most badass female TV characters. Needless to say this list is non-exhaustive. Focus.

Arya Stark from Game of Thrones

It's hard to summarize everything Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) has done during eight seasons of Game of Thrones. Yet, from a very early age, the heroine learnt how to swing a sword and fight like no other, regardless of age or genre. Do we need to remind you that Arya wandered from quite some time, determined to kill the ones she wanted revenge from? Better yet, she's the one who killed the Night King, the biggest foe of the show.

Eve Polastri from Killing Eve

No one can deny that: the show Killing Eve is filled with two badass female leads. On one hand we have Villanelle (Jodie Comer) and on the other hand there's Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh). The first one is a dangerous assassin while the other works for the British secret services. If Villanelle proved time and time again that she can kill her victims in cold blood and be a real badass at it, it's Eve we want to praise today. Because, even if Eve has a family life, a husband with whom things are falling apart, she still throws everything she has in this game of cat-and-mouse to find Villanelle. Even if it means putting her marriage at risk… and her life. And that, we can all agree, is extremely courageous.

Eleven from Stranger Things

She might be the youngest here, but she's still a badass! We call Eleven from Stranger Things to the stand. Result of an experimentation, she has supernatural skills et masters telekinesis. When she eventually escapes the lab she's been held in, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) meets a group of young courageous boys looking for their missing friend. This is the starting point for the ongoing battle between these teens and obscure forces much stronger than them. Thankfully, they can count on Eleven and her powers to fight against these dark forces threatening Hawkins.

Lagertha from Vikings

When we think Vikings, it's not usually a woman that comes to mind. Yet, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) showed many times that she was as badass as the rest of them. Better yet, she can be much more assertive than her male counterparts, even since the beginning of the show. Lagertha is not a faint-hearted and would always do what is necessary to protect her own. A true example of deference.

Michonne from The Walking Dead

In The Walking Dead, it is without a doubt Michonne (Danai Gurira) who is the most badass heroine. Survivor of the epidemic, Michonne is never seen without her katana, an impressive weapon she keeps with her. By Rick Grimes' side, Michonne is always at the ready. And if the fans had to say goodbye to this iconic character in season 10 of The Walking Dead, they probably won't forget this strong woman who was not afraid of anything.

Buffy Summers from Buffy contre les vampires

If we had to give a prize for the most badass heroine from the 90s, Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) would win that fight without a doubt. And for good reason, the teenage girl spent her highschool years fighting vampires. Her young age didn't stop her from seeing her mission through and battling all sorts of diabolical beings. Dead and then resurrected several times, Buffy is an inspiring figure who saved the world almost as many times as she saved her friends.
