Two years after its launch in the United States, the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful arrived in France. It was first broadcast on June 12, 1989, on the television channel Antenne 2 (which became France 2 in 1992). In its early days, the series was titled Top Models in France. It was only from September 17, 1990, that it was renamed The Bold and the Beautiful.

Viewers witnessed a heartbreaking scene where Stephanie, suffering from lung cancer, took her last breath in Brooke's arms.
