As the iconic face of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and former president of The Monte-Carlo Television Festival jury, Jane Seymour will be back this year for the 61st edition of the festival!

Like many celebrities, the actress Jane Seymour did not settle for her birth name. Born Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg, she eventually changed her name to a much simpler one, as she revealed to Us Weekly. Some rumors say that she might have chosen this alias to show the quintessence of her British roots and as a nod to Jane Seymour, the third wife of King Henry VIII.

Jane Seymour can proudly claim this honor, indeed! She has her own star on the most famous of all boulevards, the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her star was inaugurated in 1999, only a few months after the cancellation of the series that made her famous: Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.

As popular as the series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman may be - launched in 1993 - the reasons that pushed Jane Seymour to accept this role are not necessarily the ones we think. Recently, the actress revealed to Entertainment Weekly that she had at that time "no money (...) no house and (...) two children. It was in the midst of this critical situation that she accepted the iconic role of Michaela Quinn.

This is what she revealed in an interview with Us Weekly. When asked to reveal 25 things about herself, Jane Seymour confided: "I lost my first movie because my eyes have two different colors. My agent replied by saying ‘One day, you will be famous for having two different colored eyes’”. Although she undoubtedly owes her fame to her talent, who knows, maybe she can also thank her eyes.
