Gomorrah: The Origins The Golden Nymph for Best Creation arrives on Canal+

Directed by Marco D’Amore, an iconic actor from the original series who has since become a director, alongside Francesco Ghiaccio, the new series consists of six episodes. Produced by Cattleya and Sky Studios, it extends the universe created from Roberto Saviano’s work while opening a new chapter in the saga.

The GOMORRAH team reunited at the Festival

The award presented in Monte-Carlo is all the more symbolic given that several of the talents behind the new series were present at the 65th Festival.

Luca Lubrano and Francesco Pellegrino, the two young actors at the heart of this new story, represented the series on the Festival’s international stage. They were joined by Giulia Forgione, Producer at Cattleya, and Riccardo Tozzi, Producer and President of Cattleya, who were also in the Principality to accompany the series in the Official Competition. Their presence reflects one of the Festival’s essential missions: bringing together, around the Golden Nymph Competition, the creators, producers and performers behind some of the most ambitious series in international television.

The meeting between these talents and the industry professionals, press and audiences gathered in Monaco also provided an opportunity to shed light on the making of a production that, just days later, would receive one of the major awards of the 65th edition.

GOMORRAH: THE ORIGINS ultimately won the Golden Nymph for Best Creation, confirming the unique place occupied by the GOMORRAH universe in the history of international television drama. In 2015, the original series itself was recognised in Monte-Carlo, winning the Golden Nymph for Best Drama Series.

The Golden Nymphs: celebrating excellence in international television

Every year, the Golden Nymph Competition is one of the highlights of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival. Series from around the world are presented and judged by international juries, which recognise productions and talent demonstrating outstanding standards of creativity, writing and direction.

Through this competition, the Festival has, for 65 editions, reaffirmed its commitment to showcasing new voices, emerging talent and series capable of crossing borders and reaching audiences around the world.

The journey of GOMORRAH: THE ORIGINS is a perfect illustration: selected for the competition in Monaco, supported by its creative team and producers who came to meet audiences and industry professionals, and ultimately honoured with a Golden Nymph, the series now continues its journey with French viewers.
