After a highly anticipated journey, the historical American limited series The Gray House will be released in the United States on Prime Video on 26 February. The eight-episode series was unveiled as a world premiere in June 2024 as the opening programme of the 63rd edition of the Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo.

The Gray House reveals the extraordinary true story of the unsung women who helped turn the tide of the American Civil War in favor of the Union. At its center are a Virginia socialite, her indomitable mother, a formerly enslaved ally, and Richmond’s most infamous courtesan, four women operating at the heart of Confederate power. Together, they evolve their Underground Railroad operation into a daring and highly effective espionage network, risking their lives and freedom to help preserve the nation’s future and safeguard American Democracy. The world premiere screening took place at the Grimaldi Forum during the Festival’s Opening Ceremony, following the traditional Blue Carpet procession. The event officially opened the Festival, held under the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, and was attended by leading international talents and industry figures.

The Republic Pictures limited series from Territory Pictures, Revelations Entertainment and Big Dreams Entertainment, The Gray House brings together a distinguished cast led by Mary-Louise Parker, alongside Daisy Head, Amethyst Davis, Ben Vereen, Paul Anderson, Ian Duff, Hannah James, Robert Knepper, Christopher McDonald, Colin Morgan, Rob Morrow, Colin O’Donoghue, and Sam Trammell. The series is executive produced by Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman, Lori McCreary, Rod Lake, Howard Kaplan and Leslie Greif, and McCreary, Greif and Freeman were present in Monte-Carlo for this world premiere presentation. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

A highlight of the 63rd Festival edition, Morgan Freeman was awarded the Crystal Nymph, one of the Festival’s most prestigious honours, recognising an exceptional career and lasting contribution to the audiovisual industry.

By selecting The Gray House as its opening programme in 2024, the Monte-Carlo Television Festival once again demonstrated its ability to identify and showcase major serial works combining artistic ambition, historical depth and contemporary resonance.

True to its mission, the Festival continues to offer audiences, media and industry professionals world-class international premieres, curated with strong editorial standards and closely aligned with the evolving dynamics of the global audiovisual market, particularly within the streaming ecosystem.

The U.S. release of The Gray House on Prime Video on 26 February further reinforces the Monte-Carlo Television Festival’s role as a trusted launch platform and a key marker for major international television series.
