The January Series to watch

15/01/2021

The year 2021 is on, and it has come with its fair share of new series and seasons for the month of January. 6 of them caught our attention.

Cobra Kai - Season 3

The show, which takes place more than 30 years after the cult movie Karate Kid, kicks off 2021 with its third season. All 10 new episodes have been available on Netflix since January 1, and it deals with the aftermath of the dramatic events of the Season 2 finale, especially the clash between Robbie and Miguel. Many faces well known to fans of the film saga are set to make an appearance.

Lupin

The most famous burglar gentleman is back on our screens… With a slight difference, and a brand-new version. We find Omar Sy in the shoes of Assane Diop, who tries to avenge the death of his father and draw inspiration from his childhood hero. Released on January 8, on Netflix.

UFOs

Second French fiction on our list, UFOs (Ovni(s)) lands on CANAL+ (StudioCanal) on January 11 and shows a brilliant space engineer (played by Melvil Poupaud) landing in a brand-new department specialized in unidentified flying objects. With a not-so-gifted new team, he has to find explanations for the strange appearances of flying saucers. Then, an event changes everything in his life.

Servant - Season 2

Would you like a little bit of horror? Season 2 of the M. Night Shyamalan series is coming to Apple TV+ on January 15, with its still scary atmosphere and answers to the many questions left open in season 1. Harry Potter fans will obviously find Rupert Grint in the casting, once again.

WandaVision

Disney+ is launching its first Marvel series on its platform, and as the title suggests, it features Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany). The story takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame and should have great significance for the plot of the second Doctor Strange film. We follow the couple in their day-to-day life, in their suburban home, as strange events punctuate their daily lives.

Riverdale - Season 5

While new episodes of Riverdale usually land in October every year, the global pandemic has changed plans for some reason. Season 5 hits Netflix on January 22, one episode per week. Fans will enjoy watching the characters experience their final moments in high school, but a time warp is going to take them seven years forward into adulthood.
