These science fiction shows that will always be iconic

14/07/2020

Science fiction has lived for decades in arts, especially in TV. Whether they were created in the 60s, 80s, 90s or today, these stories remain iconic and here are 6 of them.

Battlestar Galactica
Battlestar Galactica

The 2003 version of Battlestar Galactica is a remake from the 1978 show. But if the original only lasted for one season, the reboot lead by Edward James Olmos, Katee Sackhoff and Jamie Bamber told its story for four seasons. A space adventure where politics, economy and social issues where in the center of the different plots and are still, up to this day, very realistic.

The X-Files
The X-Files

Iconic 90's show, The X-Files is still in everybody's minds today. Mulder & Scully's investigations may look a bit older now, but the universe and the mythology of the show are unforgettable. The amazing and timeless duo played by David Duchovny & Gillian Anderson is often copied, yet never equalled.

Fringe
Fringe

Heir of The X-Files, Fringe has quickly found its own tone to offer fans a rich and complex universe that got better and better throughout the seasons. Its story and the dynamics between Olivia (Anna Torv), Peter (Joshua Jackson) & Walter (John Noble) are perfectly combined. And the crazy twists and moments of tension have made quite the impression.

Doctor Who
Doctor Who

It's the oldest science fiction show in history that's still broadcasted. If it came back in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, it started in 1963 in the UK with William Hartnell leading the TARDIS. It was on for ages aside from a pause between 1989 & 2005, and it keeps on entertaining its fans. The subjects and themes are still very relevant up to this day and it's always trying to reinvent itself.

Star Trek
Star Trek

The 60's were quite the inspiration for writers and producers and Captain Kirk will only confirm it. In 1966, Gene Roddenberry came up with the idea of Star Trek, a crew traveling in space to explore new worlds and discover new civilisations. 60 years later, many shows were created from it, more than 10 moves, and millions of toys: quite the legacy!

The Prisoner
The Prisoner

Many shows were inspired by the Prisoner. This 17 episode show broadcasted between 1967 & 1968 depicted Patrick McGoohan, a British secret agent called Number 6, who was abducted in a place called The Village. Visually creative with a striking narrative arc, the show is a monument in TV history.
