10 TV series that got cancelled in 2020

12/11/2020

TV series weren't spared in 2020 and a lot of them got cancelled. Here are 10 of them that fans are really gonna miss.

The Society, after 1 season

Like for many other shows this year, COVID-19 was fatal. While The Society was renewed for a second season by Netflix, the platform decided to cancel it after one season, even though production on the new episodes was about to start. One of the reasons why it got cancelled was because of the high cost of the sanitary measures to put in place.

V-Wars, after 1 season

Too bad for Ian Somerhalder. While the actor was reuniting with the vampire world several years after the end of The Vampire Diaries, his new show, V-Wars, never quite found success on Netflix or a loyal audience. The platform decided to end the show's journey after only one season.

Castle Rock, after 2 seasons

The horror TV show that explored Stephen King's universe met its end after 2 seasons, cancelled by Hulu. In this show we followed stars like Bill Skarsgard, Melanie Lynskey, Jane Levy, Terry O'Quinn, Lizzy Caplan or Tim Robbins.

Kate Keene, after 1 season

Riverdale's spin-off didn't find the same success as the original show. If Archie, Jughead and Betty's adventures are passionately followed by fans, Katy Keene's (Lucy Hale) New-York journey didn't quite leave up to it. The CW decided to cancel it after only one season.

Man with a Plan, after 4 seasons

Friends' fans had the pleasure of watching Matt LeBlanc in the new sitcom, and if it had a loyal audience for the first few years, Man with a Plan saw its numbers decline. CBS, the network that broadcasted the show, cancelled it after 4 seasons. In France, the show was on Gulli.

The Walking Dead, after 11 seasons

Don't panic! There'll be plenty of The Walking Dead coming your way, but the decision was made : season 11 will be its last. Even though it got cancelled, there'll still be plenty of episodes, coming in 2021 and 2022, and it's without taking the spin-offs into account. On top of Fear The Walking Dead and World Beyond, which started in October on Prime Video, fans will soon follow Carol and Daryl in their own TV series. Plus, there's also an anthology show coming with brand news stories.

GLOW, after 3 seasons

Like The Society, GLOW was firstly renewed for a one season before the streaming platform decided to cancel it. A sad decision for the fans and the cast alike. Here, the high cost of sanitary measures is also to blame for this sad decision. The show won't have a proper ending, something season 4 was supposed to do, even though production started in March.

Stumptown, after 1 season

Same thing goes for Stumptown, but on another network. Starring Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) and Jake Johnson (New Girl), Stumptown had its little fanbase on NBC and was renewed for a second season… Before COVID-19 arrived and forced the network to cancel it.

Better Call Saul, after 6 seasons

Better Call Saul was considered to be Breaking Bad's equal. With its directing, its writing and the crazy development of Saul Goodman, seasons captivated audiences and the writers wanted to end the show on a high note. If the show got cancelled, or is arriving to an end, season 6 will be released in 2021.

LA's Finest, after 2 seasons

LA's Finest is the adaptation of the Bad Boys movie franchise, starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba. Both actresses came to Monte Carlo in 2019 to present the show, while season 1 just came out in the US. The show didn't really find its audience, and even though it got renewed for a second season, there won't be a third one.
